Kinfire is a family app made by Blackhook Group. This page explains what the app stores, who can see it, and how to delete it. If anything here is unclear, email hello@blackhookgroup.com.
What we store
- Your name, as you typed it during setup, and whether you use the Elder screen.
- Your family's name and invite code.
- Your recorded answers and, on iPhone, a written transcript of each one.
- An anonymous sign-in ID that links your phone to your family. There are no accounts, emails or passwords.
- Subscription status for the family (the date it is paid through). Payments are handled by Apple or Google. We never see card details.
We do not collect your location, contacts, email address, advertising ID or usage analytics.
Who can hear your answers
Only the people in your family. Anyone with your family's invite link can join, so send it only to people you want in. Answers are stored on our server so every phone in the family, iPhone or Android, can play them.
Transcripts
iPhones turn answers into text using Apple's speech recognition. When the phone supports it, this happens on the phone itself. Otherwise Apple may process the audio under Apple's privacy policy. Android phones do not create transcripts.
Who we share data with
Nobody, for their own use. We do not sell data and there are no ads. We use Supabase to host the database and audio files. Supabase stores the data for us and is not allowed to use it for anything else. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Deleting your data
In the app, open Settings (on the Elder screen, press and hold the top of the screen for a few seconds):
- Delete my answers removes your recordings and transcripts.
- Leave the family and delete my data removes your answers, your name and your sign-in.
- Delete the family for everyone (only for the person who started it) removes the whole family, every answer, for everyone.
Deleted data is removed from our server and from every phone in the family. Deleting the app alone does not delete your data, so use one of the options above first. You can also email us and we will delete it for you.
How long we keep data
Answers are kept until someone deletes them as described above. If a family's subscription ends, the answers are still kept so the family can listen to them.
Children
Kinfire is meant to be set up by an adult. If a child uses it, a parent or guardian should set up the phone and keep an eye on it. If you think a child is using Kinfire without a parent's involvement, email us and we will delete their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
